BRIEF HISTORY OF THE
MERCADO & PARTNERS LAW FIRM

The MERCADO & PARTNERS LAW FIRM started as MERCADO LAW OFFICE in May 2000 and held office at Suite M-4, Doña Milagros Building, Perdices Street corner Sta. Rosa Street, Dumaguete City.

The law office started with ATTY. RAYMUND JORGE A. MERCADO, as the only lawyer in the office. It had one [1] office secretary and one [1] utility staff.

The law office handled almost all sorts of cases, commonly called as general law practice.

Later in June 2002, the law office accepted an associate, ATTY. ANTHONY FERROLINO, who later became as junior partner in January 2003.  Just when Atty. Ferolino became a junior partner, another associate attorney came in, ATTY. JITENDER CHANDIRAMANI, a naturalized Indian.  The office also hired that year additional office staff.

In December 2005, the law office was christened MERCADO & PARTNERS LAW FIRM and transferred to its’ new office at Suite 1, 2nd Floor, RM Building, North National Highway corner East Rovira Road, Bantayan, Dumaguete City.

The law firm also accepted two [2] new lawyers in the person of ATTY. MICHAEL M. BANDAL and ATTY. ALAN C. MARTINEZ and hired an additional office secretary.

Later in June of 2009, a new lawyer joined the firm in the person of ATTY. ANDRE JACOBO, a San Beda College of Law graduate and who would handle the corporate practice of the firm.

The law firm has lately opened a branch office in the mystic island of Siquijor and has practically catered the legal needs of foreign expats who have invested much in Siquijor. This was however temporarily closed due to heavy work load of the partners of the law firm coupled with the preference of expats to come to Dumaguete City for their legal concerns.

The law firm presently handles an aggregate of not less than two thousand [2000] cases of varying classification and fields.  Modesty aside, the firm has batting “win” average of 95% of cases handled.  It has expanded its’ services to preventive counseling, due diligence in real estate transactions and establishment of corporations and partnerships and more and more has specialized the field of practice among it’s’ lawyers.

In 2011, the senior and managing partner of the law firm, Atty. Raymund Jorge A. Mercado was elected as the Governor of the IBP representing the Western Visayas Region while serving as Assistant Governor for the Rotary Club District 3860 and also while actively being involved with Couples for Christ.

Thus, in 2014, ATTY. BUENAGRACIA G. UMALI joined the law firm. She was followed by ATTY. LEONI MAE L. TAM. In 2015 ATTY. ROXANNE JOYCE LIM MERCADO, a graduate of Ateneo de Manila School of Law and the eldest daughter of the senior and managing partner of the law firm, followed suit.

In May 2017, two new female lawyers joined the law firm one of them, among the Top Ten of the 2016 Bar Examinations in the person of ATTY. MARIE CHIELO H. YBIO and ATTY. GESTA RIVA A. GAMO.

Thereafter, ATTY. MARVILIE M. SERNA, ATTY. LEE A.T. VERDOGUILLO, ATTY. RASSELLE LOUISE L. MERCADO and ATTY. KARA ANGELIE M. DUMASIS, also joined the law firm.
